The Roommate Disaster

Updated: May 16, 2022

The Roommate by Rosie Danan was published in 2020 and has seen a burst of excitement in the recent year from the social media platform Tiktok. This novel has only in the last few months hit the shelves of Dymocks, Kmart, Big W and Target in Australia. However, the thirst for romance was seen clearly as book-tok fanatics jumped on the novel and made it go viral.

This sweet talking romance was another quick and easy read that left most if not myself feeling refreshed and hyped for even more romance. Innocence was a major factor in this book, seeing as the main protagonist Clara Wheaton was a consummate good girl. Crushing over her long time childhood friend, she is invitied to stay at his house for the summer only to be crushed at the reveal that instead of her best-friend a charming stranger is waiting instead, or should I say long-time famous porn star. Stranger Josh is uncultured when it comes to sharing, especially when Clara makes the rules.

House Rules: Do your own dishes, knock before entering the bathroom and never look your roomate up online.

The sexual tension in this book is defintely there, and looking up her roomate makes things ten times worse. But there is one thing both can agree upon, women deserve better sex. This leads to both a sexual and boss girl moment as Josh and Clara go on an adventure together and discover life is both hard and rewarding when you do what you love.

MY THOUGHTS

The Roomate is a comtempary romance that brings love to whole new level. Slow-burning, the embaressing moments of this story defintely make you feel something inside...not that way you dirty minded romance nerd. I'm here to tell you even though it was a quick read, I would of loved more. More is always a need in romance seeing as even after a happy ending so much more can happen. Like how there adventure flourished. No spoliers I promise, but seeing them finally together didn't satify me, I wanted to see them together more. Married, in love, with child. I mean if there is one thing a romance novel doesn't do is shows us what happens in the future. What if theres turbulance in the future? How would I know?

This is what I would of liked to see, but thats just my opinion I always want more. However, overall this tory was cheerful, heart-warming and overall a quick and marvlous read.
